Capers Region 3 Seed Bill Polian vs 14 Seed Eric Davis

Third Seed – Bill Polian

The original front office man for the Panthers, Polian helped build the veteran heavy rosters that served the Panthers so well the first couple of years. He added 3-4 vets to the defense from teams like Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and New Orleans. He brought Bills vets to the offense as well. Good drafting served the Panthers well during those early years too. Polian left for more influence with the Colts and the ability to draft Peyton Manning.

Fourteenth Seed – Eric Davis

The first lock down corner came over from the early rival San Francisco 49ers. Davis was about as high profile an acquisition as the Panthers made in their early years. He averaged five interceptions per season until almost the end of the George Seifert era.
