The Carolina Panthers concluded their two day rookie mini-camp yesterday. The Panthers coaching staff came away impressed with CB Lou Young according to the Panthers twitter account. Ron Rivera also mentioned that Brandon Wegher is a “diamond in the rough”. Highlight videos of Wegher has fans excited and I am posting the highlights I have found of him below.
The Panthers first two draft picks stayed out of the mini-camp at certain points for minor injuries. Devin Funchess was held out of the 1st day of rookie mini-camp, at the end, because of cramps. Shaq Thompson was held out of on field activities the 2nd day of the mini camp because of a tweaked hamstring. I am assuming that both of the players will be fine for the start of training camp later this year.

According to Steve Reed of The Associated Press WR Avius Capers of Johnson C. Smith , DE Rakim Cox of Villanova, and TE Jamie Childers of Coastal Carolina were all tryout players who impressed. I expect most of these players are trying out for the practice squad unless they truly impress at a high level. Overall Rivera seemed happy with the draft picks and a few other players who were there at the mini-camp. GO PANTHERS!
