Polls: Duke Blue Devils Still Collecting Votes

facebooktwitterreddit

There are only a few football polls left, but this week’s two polls finds no teams in the top 25 of either the AP Football Poll or the Amway Coaches Poll. However one of our area teams persistently holds on to a spot in the others receiving votes section. That would be the Duke Blue Devils.

The others receiving votes section shrank mightily over the season, but now it has expanded again as the season nears its end.

So why is Duke still collecting votes? One reason is that Duke has nine wins and most people have rather short memories of when the Duke Blue Devils could win nine games.

Another fact is the respect for Coach David Cutcliffe. The Duke Blue Devils team that he has built is a balanced one that neither overly depends on passing or rushing. The Duke Blue Devils also probably gained credits for beating Georgia Tech, now that Tech has beaten Georgia.

Week 15 AP Football Poll

1. Alabama Crimson Tide (11-1, 25)
2. Florida State Seminoles (12-0, 29)
3. Oregon Ducks (11-1, 5)
4. TCU Horned Frogs (10-1)
