FBS Preview: College Football Week 13
Things are coming to a head in the ACC Coastal Division this week as Duke and North Carolina are set to square off on Thursday night. That will kick off the FBS Preview for Week 13, which also features East Carolina looking for help in the American, and Appalachian State looking to shock the world again as they head to Lafayette, LA.
Thursday – 11/20
Duke Blue Devils (8-2) vs North Carolina Tar Heels (5-5)
Time: 7:30 PM
TV: ESPN
The Battle for the Victory Bell comes around again, and Duke has held onto the bell since 2012. Duke must win to keep even with Georgia Tech and win the tiebreaker for the division title. The Tar Heels need a win to go to a bowl game. Both teams played marathon games with Pitt, so it will be interesting to see them go after each other.
Saturday – 11/22
Wake Forest Demon Deacons (2-8) vs Virginia Tech Hokies (5-5)
Time: 12:30 PM
TV: ACC Network
The countdown for Wake Forest is now two. There are two more chances for Wake Forest to win a conference game. The better chance may be this week, as Virginia Tech has not demonstrated much capability to run away from anyone. In a game with a suppressed score, anything can happen. Unfortunately that this not far off from the credo of Beamerball. Let’s hope the FBS Preview will have something more positive to say next week.

East Carolina Pirates (7-3) vs Tulane Green Wave (3-7)
Time: 3:30 PM
TV: ESPN3
A ten win season is still possible for the Pirates if they win out and then win a bowl game. Tulane was not a huge challenge for Duke and Georgia Tech earlier this year and I cannot see the Green Wave being a big threat. However, Houston thought the same thing two weeks ago.
Appalachian State Mountaineers (5-5) at Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns (7-3)
Time: 3:30 PM
TV: ESPN3
The Mountaineers are still rolling and are now looking at the preseason conference favorite this Saturday. The Ragin Cajuns beat Monroe by a touchdown last week, who App beat in a close game two weeks ago. That may signal another dogfight for the Mountaineers. A win would mark the season as an unqualified success. A loss and you should still beat Idaho next week. That’s all for this week’s FBS Preview. As the FCS playoffs start, we will go back to tracking those guys.
