Carolina Hurricanes at New York Rangers: Game Time, Lines, TV/Radio
Time: 7 p.m
TV: Fox Sports Carolinas, MSG
Radio: 99.9 FM The Fan
The Carolina Hurricanes are still looking for their first win of the season, and will look to get it in a trip to Madison Square Garden to take on the defending Eastern Conference Champion New York Rangers in the first game of a five-game road trip.
The ‘Canes are coming off getting their first point of the season in a 4-3 shootout loss to Buffalo at home, while the Rangers have dropped three of their first four games of the year, most recently falling 6-3 to in-state rival New York Islanders on Monday night.
Carolina wins if…
The ‘Canes could win if the young blood steps up in a big way. We saw what kind of scoring potential players like Riley Nash and Zach Boychuk posses, even if four of the top five scorers from a year ago are sidelined.
On defense, Carolina will have to find a way to contain Rick Nash, who is one of the best goal-scorers in the early season so far. The combination of Nash and Martin St. Louis could pose a difficult challenge for the ‘Canes defensemen.
Andrej Sekera isn’t being ruled out for tonight, but don’t expect him to play. Coach Bill Peters said he was “glad that he didn’t break his neck” after crashing into the boards after the Sabres’ first goal on Monday night.
Jeff Skinner is also traveling with the team, and could return tonight, but don’t hold your breath.
Carolina will again look to get on the power play yet again, but the Rangers are stingy on the penalty kill, having allowed only one power play goal.
