Charlotte is well positioned with a veteran roster to make noise this year in Conference USA. It is always good to return four starters. It is even better when one of those starters is preseason all-conference. The coaches preseason all-conference team was announced on Tuesday as well and sitting at the top of the list is Pierria Henry, the senior point guard.
The Conference USA preseason all-conference team seems to be an entire team. There are 10 guys instead of the normal starting five and some honorable mentions thrown around. There also are not a lot of big guys on the team. Julian Washburn, one of the forwards, is really a swingman. That means there are only two post guys on the team. This could simply reflect the kind of talent that gets recruited to Conference USA schools. If you were a good post player, you might simply have never considered some of these schools. Which makes one wonder if we will see Nick Griciunas on this list in a few years.
