East Carolina Pirates (3-1) vs SMU Mustangs (0-4)

Time: 12:00 PM
TV: ESPNU

Things are definitely going downhill for the visiting Mustangs. Coach June Jones resigned two weeks ago, and the team has not done anything since. This means the normally tough Ponies will be more grist for the mill that is Pirate football. This is ECU’s first game since becoming ranked, so we’ll see how they respond to success.

North Carolina Tar Heels (2-2) vs Virginia Tech Hokies (3-2)

Time: 12:30
TV: ACC Network

The vaunted Coastal Division features only one team without a conference loss, Georgia Tech. Two of the teams trying to figure things out meet Saturday in Chapel Hill. The Heels are trying to come off back to back high scoring games, while Virginia Tech is trying to find the magic that beat Ohio State. Both teams have a lot to play for in this game.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons (2-3) at Florida State Seminoles (4-0)

Time: 3:30 PM
TV: ABC

The reward for hard play at Louisville is hard play in Tallahassee. Wake Forest faces yet another monster offense. FSU’s problems have been on defense, but Wake has not shown the competence yet to take advantage of that this week. May be a long afternoon for the Deacs.

North Carolina State Wolfpack (4-1) at Clemson Tigers (3-2)

Time: 3:30 PM
TV: ESPNU

Both of these teams scored more than forty points last week. However the Clemson defense is stocked, and it will be unlikely that State will repeat its performance. However, if State can pound the speedy Clemson defense and keep quarterback DeShaun Watson off the field, then the Wolfpack will have something to say about who keeps the Textile Trophy this year.

Appalachian State Mountaineers (1-3) vs South Alabama Jaguars (2-2)

Time: 6:00 PM
TV: ESPN3

App State would love an in conference win and South Alabama is as a good a target as any to do it. The Jaguars also had an unfortunate experience had the hands of Georgia Southern, so the two schools seem to be at about the right place for this meeting. Should be a tough one on Saturday for whoever wins.
