Carolina RailHawks defeat Tampa Bay Rowdies 1-0
Yes it was one of those dreaded 1-0 soccer scores that casual American sports fans sometimes complain about. The RailHawks and Rowdies were unable to find breakthroughs in the other’s defenses throughout the entire length of the game. Then midfielder Tiyi Shipalane found an opening in stoppage time to win it for the RailHawks. This made Shipalane a member of the stars of the week award that NASL gives out.
This game also marked the first extended action for Danny Barrera, the midfielder that the RailHawks traded for recently.
Carolina RailHawks fall to Atlanta Silverbacks 2-0
The game against Atlanta started much like the one against Tampa Bay, where the first half saw back and forth action but no real progress on the scoreboard. The shots did not start falling until the 63rd minute when Atlanta Silverback midfielder Junior Sandoval uncorked a shot from thirty yards out that was just unstoppable.
The RailHawks made two substitutions to try and get back in the game, but luck was with the Silverbacks as a second long distance goal was scored in the 75th minute, dampening the spirits of the WakeMed Park crowd.
