Nick Watney leads with a -14

Watney shot 64-65 the last two days to overtake the leaders. Watney secured the lead on the 18th hole, by making a nice twenty foot birdie. Watney is looking to salvage something from what has been a disappointing year for him.

Campbell’s Brad Fritsch shoots for Playoffs

Canadian Brad Fritsch is 163rd on the FedEx Cup points list, but his second place -13 would put him into position to make the Playoffs. Fritsch has gone 63-65 over the last two days.

  • Heath Slocum Flirts With Disaster

Slocum is 158th in the points ranking, but his third place -12 is not good enough where things stand right now to make the playoffs. Slocum will likely have to win or finish second with some help in order to make the playoffs a reality. It does not help him that Fritsch, one of the guys behind him, is playing ahead of him right now. Beating Fritsch may be more important than winning the tournament.

Webb Simpson is Hanging in There…
The Webb Simpson Ryder Cup watch is still on and Webb is only three back at -11. It is still best for Webb that he find a way to win the tournament, but any performance that impresses Captain Tom Watson will do.

    …But so is Brandt Snedeker

Snedeker is behind Simpson in the Ryder Cup points, but the two will be paired together tomorrow and the winner might just get the Captain’s pick. It would be an obvious look in an almost match play type setting. The winner of Snedeker-Simpson just might take that Ryder Cup spot regardless if it decides the tournament.

Will Wake Forest’s Bill Haas Make a Run?

Bill Haas shot 66 today to get within four of the lead. He is a guy with a history of hot golf late in the season with a FedEx Title to his credit. Could he start that run tomorrow in Greensboro? He has been solid so far with 68-66-66, but he will need to be spectacular to get Watney.
