Myles Turner Spurns Duke For Texas
By Marc Pruitt
Myles Turner has decided to play his college basketball at Texas for Coach Rick Barnes, spurning offers for Duke, Kansas and Ohio State, among others.
Choosing the Longhorns will likely vault Turner into the limelight as one of the featured players to watch next season in college basketball.
The 6-10, 240-pound Turner is listed as high as the No. 4 overall prospect by recruiting websites in this year class of incoming freshmen and could have been a part of a monster front line at Duke, joining consensus N0. 1 prospect Jahlil Okafor.
Turner played at Trinity High School in Euless, Texas and established a name for himself during the spring and summer AAU circuit following his junior year.
He has been a highly sought after prospect during the spring, having taken official visits to Texas, Kansas, Duke, Oklahoma State, and Ohio State. He took his last official visit to Austin several weeks ago, and has visited the campus unofficially several times.
Turner is reportedly a huge fan of former Texas star Kevin Durant, which probably didn’t hurt the Longhorns chances of landing him either.
