Ginn signed the contract earlier today and made it official. He also had an offer from the Cincinnati Bengals too.
After the talks with the team were completed, Ron Rivera’s excitement was noted heavily by the media. Despite his [Ginn] struggles as a wide receiver in San Francisco, he turned a lot of heads as a returner on special teams.
This is a huge move in the Panthers eyes as they need some help with their wide receivers. This also gives Ginn a chance to revive his career and reputation as a solid wide receiver, giving Cam Newton another target other than Steve Smith.
The move to Carolina also plays into Ginn’s favor to give him more playing time. As a 49er he lost a fair amount of playing time. Now at Carolina he could see an rather solid increase of playing time on the offensive side of the ball.
Salary cap issues have kept the Panthers very quiet in free agency, but this signing gives them talent at a very reasonable price they can afford.
