The state of North Carolina is well represented in this year’s NCAA Tournament. Sneaking into the tournament this year were the North Carolina A&T Aggies (20-16, 8-8 MEAC). Tonight, they officially made it into the big dance after their one point victory over the Liberty Flames (15-21, 6-10 Big South).

Jeremy Underwood came off the bench for the Aggies and provided for his team. He scored nineteen points with one rebound and one assist.

Backing up fellow Aggies teammate performances was Bruce Beckford. He scored sixteen points but had a solid defensive effort with nine rebounds.

It appeared the Aggies were going to give the game away in the final two minutes after some very poor defensive and ball handling. Great defense on the final drive for Liberty before the buzzer, kept the Flames from scoring.

Leading the Flames in scoring was Davon Marshall who had twenty-two points with his three assist and one rebound. John Caleb Sanders put up twenty-one points with nine assists and two rebounds.

For a sixteen seed game, this one kept fans on the edge of their seats until the end. It was a great way to kick of March Madness!

Final Score: North Carolina A&T 73 – Liberty 72 | Player of the Game: John Caleb Sanders
