Cooper was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

In 2012, Cooper rushed for 1,049 yards and scored seven touchdowns. He has 229 reception yards and scored one receiving touchdown.

The 5-9, 189 pound Homerville, Georgia native was a key player for the Pirates on offense last year.

John Barnes-Smith, Reggie Bullock, Michael Dobson, Hunter Furr, Chris Hairston will now compete for the Pirates running back depth chart and starting job.

Bullock, of no relation to the North Carolina Tar Heel basketball star, was the Pirates second choice last season behind Cooper. He had 387 yards and scored six touchdowns. With more playing time in 2013, it seems the Pirates may see an entirely new rushing attack with Bullock behind the snap.

The school nor Cooper have released a statement on his arrest as this time. Old North Banter will keep you up to date on the situation and how it effects the university and football program.
