ECU Football Recruiting: Coult Culler Close to Becoming a Tar Heel?

East Carolina University is a rather small school, but they are widely known for their solid football program that always seems to perform rather well each season. Recruiting in-state has been a good strategy for the Pirates, but it seems Larry Fedora and the North Carolina Tar Heels have learned that themselves too.

Trying to get a little piece of the North Carolina recruiting pie, it appears that Tar Heels are close to “stealing” a recruit right out of the hands of the Pirates.

Coult Culler is being recruited as an athlete by the Tar Heels and a middle linebacker by the Pirates. Culler says because the Tar Heels still aren’t exactly sure what their defensive scheme is going to be in 2013, they are recruiting him as an athlete.

The Tar Heels though have been heavily recruiting him and would love to have Culler commit and commit soon. While Culler is very impressed with ECU, both facilities and coaches, the Tar Heels are truly going all out in his recruitment.

At 6-foot-3-inches tall and 225 pounds, Culler is a very versatile player and can be used in several different positions. He only has two offers, one form ECU and one from UNC. NC State and Wake Forest have a chance, but have yet to make an offer to Coult.

It seems that while he was all but a Pirate, that Fedora won’t settle until Culler puts on those Carolina Blue jerseys and arrives in Chapel Hill.
