UNC Football Recruiting: Lorenzo Featherston attends Tar Heels junior day

The North Carolina Tar Heels had a huge list of visitors at their junior day yesterday, and one of the biggest ones was 2014 four-star Greensboro WDE/TE Lorenzo Featherston. A North Carolina State Wolfpack lean, Featherston is also high on UNC and has offers from both top in-state programs.

Featherston’s junior day attendance in Chapel Hill was huge for the Tar Heels, and they will have a tough recruitment ahead of them going up against some top programs pressing for Featherston’s services. The number two ranked recruit in the state of North Carolina is looking closely at UNC, N.C. State, Oregon, Tennessee, and Nebraska. Of those five programs, UNC, Tennessee, and N.C. State are the three to have offered. Oregon usually does not offer until much later on in the process, but we’ll see if that changes under Mark Helfrich (it probably won’t since Chip Kelly and Helfrich could share most of the same philosophies).

Virginia, Clemson, Florida State, South Carolina, and Michigan are five other notable programs who have offered Lorenzo Featherston. Notre Dame is also taking a look at the 21st-ranked player overall in 247Sports’s 2014 football recruiting class rankings.

Five days ago, Featherston received a flurry of major offers (three to be exact) on the same day from South Carolina, Michigan, and Florida State. The prized recruit also attended Clemson’s junior day and unofficially visited the N.C. State Wolfpack a week earlier.

Likely best fit at defensive end, Featherston is the second-best WDE in the 2014 class after recorded 15 tackles for loss as a junior for Page High.
