It has been the perfect day for opening day for the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Diamond Heels kicked off the 2013 season under sunny skies with a warm 64 degree temperature.

It was a slow but successful start to the 2013 campaign for the Diamond Heels. The Tar Heels defeated the Seton Hall Pirates by just one run and a score of 1-0.
After six innings of a pitchers dual, the Tar Heels were the first to get a score on the board. Chaz Frank got the RBI sacrifice fly in to score Skye Bolt. That would be the only run scored all day at The Bosh. It was a rather uneventful day.
Kent Emanuel was the starting pitcher for the Heels. He completed the shut out, pitching all nine innings. He gave up just four hits and struck out five batters.
The last time North Carolina had a shutout game on opening day to begin the season was in 2007 against…Seton Hall.
The Tar Heels have had much success against Seton Hall. Overall they are 53-11-0 against the Pirates. The last time Seton Hall defeated the Tar Heels was in 2011 when the Pirates won one games in a three game series.
Tomorrow will be game two of a three game series with the first pitch being thrown at 2 p.m. Of course with some winter weather being a strong possibility, there may be a double header on Sunday!
