The Demon Deacons have landed their first four-star recruit that will really beef up their recruiting class in 2013.

Linebacker Lance Virgile of St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida has committed to Jim Grobe and the Deacons.

Virgile is 6 feet-2 inches tall and weighs 218 pounds. He had standing offers from: Bowling Green, East Carolina, Florida International, Houston, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisville, Miami-OH, North Carolina State, Central Florida and West Virginia. A few other schools including Wisconsin has shown some interest in Virgile.

ESPN Recruiting writes that “Virgile is very effective defending against the run and pass and his playing strength and speed allow him to make plays all over the field… may not be an immediate impact player at the BCS level of play, but early situational playing time is a distinct possibility.”

In 2011 he recorded 60 tackles with 15 that went for a loss and 12 that were sacks. He can run a 40 in just 4.6 seconds.

Virgile committed to Wake Forest just a week after making an official visit to the school.
