All season long there has been a long list of statements made from the Carolina Panthers and its players and about the talent this team has and how they are better than this team and that team and how they’re going to win the Super Bowl, yet coming into today’s game they were 3-9. They were yet to back up the trash talk coming out of Charlotte.

This week it was said that the 3-9 Panthers were better than the best team in the NFL at the present moment, the 11-1 Atlanta Falcons.

Back in September, the Panthers traveled to Atlanta and fell two points shy of defeating the Falcons. This time it was a new song and it was played in Charlotte to the tune of Cam Newton.

There isn’t anything left for Carolina to play for because realistically there is no playoff hopes, however if losing to Atlanta by two points in September wasn’t bad enough, before they cleared the field Matt Ryan made it known he wanted the Panthers off of his field.

The first half was all about the Panthers who went into the locker room at halftime with a 16-0 lead.

Newton was 23 for 35 attempts with 287 yards and 2 touchdowns. His counterpart went 34 for 49, 342 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception.

Newton also led the Panthers in rushing with 116 yards and a touchdown that included a 72 yard run for that touchdown.

Ron Rivera said that today’s game shows what his team is capable of. Sadly they only have a 4-9 record to back that claim up.
