The University of Tennessee has finally found their next head football coach after what feels like a long search. Butch Jones from the University of Cincinnati that will be leading the Volunteers down and onto the field next season and for the next six seasons after signing a six year deal.

Jones rejected an offer from the University of Colorado to join the SEC and Tennessee.

Jones was among one of the names mentioned all week long in a crazy coaching rumor mill that  seemed like nobody wanted the Tennessee job. Louisville and North Carolina fans all got a big scare this week, but can now calm down with the news that the Vols have their man. Of course Louisville offered a contract extensions to Charlie Strong and he signed it.

Granted the Vols are under some penalties from the short lived Lane Kiffin era, but still Tennessee is one of the historic and most successful teams in college football that plays in the most successful college football conference.

Jones will be formally introduced later this afternoon in a press conference that was called earlier this morning.

As for North Carolina and Heels fans…they better get used to being a part of the rumor mill. Each and every year a coach with the potential Fedora has will be a name that teams want to hire. At least you know Bubba Cunningham made a good hire because if Fedora wasn’t a good coach, we wouldn’t be worrying about this past week’s rumors.

Fedora has not commented on the rumors this past week and still has not made any public statement, but did inform a recruit Wednesday before telling the team Thursday that he does not have any plans of leaving Chapel Hill anytime soon. Maybe a new dynasty is in the works!
