The Charlotte Hornets haven’t been to the playoffs since the 2015-16 season but that streak could end this season because of these five reasons.

The Charlotte Hornets are entering their 15th season since returning to North Carolina however trips to the playoffs have been few and far between. They have only reached the playoffs three times, the last one being in the 2015-16 season, and they have never gotten past the first round.

However, there is reasons for optimism for the Charlotte Hornets. The franchise is entering a new era with changes in the front office with GM Mitch Kupchak and on the coaching staff with James Borrego as the new head coach.

Kupchak is a veteran general manager with over 20 years leading the Lakers but this will be Borrego’s first chance as a head coach. He has spent a number of years as an assistant, most recently with the San Antonio Spurs.

Meanwhile the roster has most of the core from last year with players like Kemba Walker and Nicolas Batum.  The franchise did add some talent though like rookie Miles Bridges and veteran Tony Parker.

These are the top reasons that the Charlotte Hornets can return to the playoffs this upcoming season.
