What will the 2018 North Carolina Tar Heels look like? Will underclassmen stay or leave? Does the world end?

The 2017 North Carolina Tar Heels basketball season is only just finished with a national championship. However the clock will not stop there and now it is time for the Heels to think about 2018 just as every other team in the country is doing right now.

Their neighbors are all fretting defections to the NBA Draft. Certainly Wake looks a lot different without John Collins, if he decides to go pro. Duke knows about Jayson Tatum and Harry Giles, but the word is still unspoken about the future of Grayson Allen or Luke Kennard. NC State will now transition from being a Mark Gottfried team to a Kevin Keats one.

Keats has already had an impact on the State-UNC rivalry. His departure from Wilmington opened up a job that was taken by longtime UNC assistant C.B. McGrath. That will mean that Roy’s bench will shake up a little bit with a newly promoted or hired assistant coach.

The Tar Heels will also look to the 2017 NBA Draft for answers. People were asking Justin Jackson about his pro prospects on Championship night. Big man Tony Bradley said he would explore the NBA Draft process and see where it led him according to reports from the Associated Press. That could mean a more jumbled transition to next year’s team.

So let’s hit what we know and touch on what we don’t.
