Missing the Carolina Panthers? You can focus on these games to scout future opponents.

The Carolina Panthers are not playing this weekend. They get to lick their wounds and prepare for next week’s battle with the Arizona Cardinals. That does not mean that football came to halt. So let’s look at the remaining schedule and see what games have some meaning to the Panthers.

  1. New Orleans Saints at Kansas City Chiefs (1 P.M. FOX)

The Saints and the Chiefs will play the Panthers before the end of the season. The Panthers will get to see how another team tries to stop Drew Brees. More importantly they get to see what the Chiefs look like when their offense is humming. Alternatively they could observe how the Saints try to stop said offense. The latter seems unlikely.

  1. San Diego Chargers at Atlanta Falcons (4:05 PM FOX)

Both teams also play the Panthers later this year. The Chargers finally got the late game football gods to let them win one against the Broncos. Philip Rivers is trying to drag a team by himself that has a wounded secondary. Sound familiar? Perhaps the Chargers will do something new to cover Julio Jones, or perhaps the Panthers just need to play them outside.

The Panthers will also have to keep Rivers in mind as well. He likes to hit the tight ends. The 49ers exposed that you could run tight end routes through the Panthers secondary.

  1. Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals (8:30 PM NBC)

The most important game of the day since the Cardinals are the next opponent for the Panthers. The problem is that Seattle will show how to beat Arizona. The problem will be whether the Panthers can replicate it without Michael Bennett, Earl Thomas, or Richard Sherman. Remember that the Cardinals have a dangerous receiver trio.

  1. Washington Redskins at Detroit Lions (1 PM FOX)

Are the Redskins for real? Hard to know. Also hard to know if Detroit will help us figure it out. Josh Norman and the Redskins will appear later this season.

  1. Oakland Raiders at Jacksonville Jaguars (1 PM CBS)

The same for Oakland as for Washington.
