North Carolina State Wolfpack: Cat Barber Suffers Concussion
During the 2015-2016 college basketball season, Cat Barber had his best season in three years when he averaged 23.5 points, 4.5 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game.
Although he was the 2016 ACC Player of the Year, Barber was a member of the 2016 All-ACC First Team. Fast forward to the end of the season. Barber announces that he will go pro. He skips his final season of eligibility to test the NBA. Barber was undrafted at the 2016 NBA Draft.
During the Vegas NBA Summer League Games, Barber was working towards making the New Orleans Pelicans’ roster until he sustained this accidental knee to the head.
In his first summer league game, Barber scored eight points. He made three of his 10 field goal attempts, in addition to two assists and two rebounds. In his third game, Barber tallied 13 points in17 minutes, hitting five of his 11 shot attempts.

This not Barber’s first concussion, though. During basketball practice in October 2013, Barber suffered his first reported concussion. On the bright side, Barber did not miss too many games during his college career. Unlike some players, Barber is not known for suffering injuries.

Likewise, Barber has improved each season at N.C. State. He tripled his points per game average in three season, from 8.5 points per game as a freshman to 23.5 points per game as a junior. In his third and final season at N.C. State, Barber averaged 38.7 minutes further distinguishing as a player who is not weak, physically or mentally.

Hopefully, this setback will not hinder Barber from becoming a member of the Pelicans. Barber had mediocre performances in the summer league games. His former Wolfpack teammates will be ready to take on the ACC in November. Of course there is always football if you can’t wait til then.
