The Charlotte Hornets finished up their point guard depth by bringing in Brian Roberts.

The Charlotte Hornets have had a long road through free agency. It all started with coming to terms with Nicolas Batum. Then the team brought back Marvin Williams. Then the team went out and got Roy Hibbert to bolster the front court and Ramon Sessions to bolster the back court. That left only a couple of question marks left.

One of those question marks was who would serve as the emergency point guard. That was answered yesterday when the Hornets brought back Brian Roberts on a one year $1.05 million dollar deal according to reports from the Associated Press.

This pickup is not world shattering but it shows the Hornets were not comfortable just bringing in a young player to be that third point guard in the system. It is a good fit since Roberts was with the Hornets for the last two years and just happened to be packaged in the Courtney Lee trade.

More from Charlotte Hornets

With Roberts back, the Hornets now have an assumed roster of:

C Cody Zeller

F Marvin Williams

F Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

G Nicolas Batum

G Kemba Walker

C Roy Hibbert

C/F Frank Kaminsky

C/F Spencer Hawes

G Ramon Sessions

G Brian Roberts

G Marco Belinelli

G Jeremy Lamb

G Troy Daniels (assuming not one offers him a better deal than his tender)

G Aaron Harrison

That gives the Hornets a roster of 14 with one open spot. They could still use a more defensive minded wing on the bench, but it is more likely that any further moves will just be bringing young developmental prospects.

Next: Hibbert signs with Charlotte

On a secondary note the Hornets will have to build the roster of the Greensboro Swarm as well when they start play. That may include a number of the guys they looked at in draft workouts. Today marks the day when contracts can actually be signed so we can keep an eye on that.
