Former Davidson Wildcats star Stephen Curry found his shot in Game 4 of the NBA Finals versus Cleveland.

It had been a tough week for former Davidson Wildcats player Stephen Curry. Despite his team being up 2-1 in the NBA Finals, Curry had been roughed up in the press. He had played three mediocre games by Curry standards. Game 2 wasn’t so bad since he was benched early, but Games 1 and 3 were likely things Curry wanted to forget.

After the Game 3 loss there were questions about whether the media was too easy on Curry. How easy would they have been on LeBron James in similar circumstances? That was followed by Curry’s new shoe dropping and people making lots of jokes about it.

Then came Game 4. The Warriors came back from their blowout loss in Game 3 and proceeded to look like that the team that got them there. A big part of that was Curry. The guard scored thirty-eight points and returned to form from beyond the three point line. The Warriors had been bad from their normal feeding zone through the first couple of games.

Curry was seven of thirteen from beyond the arc, and the Warriors shot 47% from the arc as a team. It turned out that he needed those points too. Kyrie Irving tried to play hero ball and managed to score thirty-four points of own, but only after taking twenty-eight shots to do it. This was the second straight game where Irving made himself felt at the offensive end.

For Curry, I think it was just a matter of having him see things go into the basket. That should bode well as the series returns to Golden State for Game 5. The NBA Finals no longer have that 2-3-2 format anymore. The road has won, so we have a series now.

It is still unknown if Curry will have to pull it off with or without Draymond Green. Green hit LeBron low and could be assessed a flagrant for that. A flagrant would bench Green for one game. Green is one of the more unique pieces that Golden State has, and simply going home may not counteract his loss.

Next: Irving scores 30 in Game 3

However if Curry is truly back to business then this series may very well end in Game 5 and the two time MVP can also claim to be a back to back NBA champion.
