Trying to figure out the Carolina Panthers’ first round selection? Good luck, because nobody agrees.

In the true spirit of the Carolina Panthers, no two people have the same idea of what the Panthers will do in the upcoming NFL Draft. The idea is get the best player available, an idea that may or may not have been disrupted by the decision to release Josh Norman.

Here at the Banter, the position is that the Panthers should rectify the cornerback situation with the pick. Based on the available players it would appear that Kendall Fuller of Virginia Tech would fit into that slot.

The mock drafters at CBS Sports have five different guys at three different positions.

Dane Brugler, Rob Rang, and Pete Prisco all have the Panthers taking an offensive tackle at that spot. They each disagree with which tackle it will be. Between them they have Germain Ifedi of Texas A&M, Taylor Decker of Ohio State, and Jason Spriggs of Indiana. Of those three guys, I prefer Decker.

Their two compatriots have different ideas. Will Brinson believes the Panthers will reach down for Alabama’s Derrick Henry while Jared Dubin has them taking Clemson’s Kevin Dodd. None of them have the Panthers addressing the cornerback position despite their drafts having been updated the day theat the Panthers rescinded Norman’s franchise tender.

More from Carolina Panthers

This opinion extends to the NFL.com mockers. On that board you can find Clemson’s end Shaq Lawson, Ole Miss’ receiver Laquon Treadwell, Spriggs again, Lousiville’s defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins, Henry again, and Oklahoma State end Emmanuel Ogbah.

Over on ESPN, the Todd/Mel Mock Draft yielded Ifedi as the Panthers pick.

Closer to home, the FanSided Mocks writer Erik Lambert has the Panthers trading out of the round in order to acquire Cleveland tackle Joe Thomas (which would be incredible by the way). At our brother blog site Cat Crave, Tim Weaver is also predicting the Panthers do something similar with the pick.

All of this means that we are 72 hours from the NFL Draft and there is no consensus on who that pick will be if it is anyone at all. That means that there should be maximum uncertainty as to what the Panthers will do and you will be forced to watch the first round of draft deep into Thursday night.
