1. He ‘cheated’ to get here

Hate for Newton generally starts from his college record and not his playing record from college. Newton was originally at the University of Florida when he was found in possession of a stolen laptop. Image Newton actually playing in an Urban Meyer offense is scary, but it never happened. Newton left for Blinn College in Texas for a year of JUCO. Some people may have assumed he was finished at that moment for the whole laptop thing.

That was not the last time that Newton was attached to some strange goings on. His father Cecil actively tried to get money out of schools that wanted to sign Newton or at least he tried to get 180,000 out of Mississippi State. That also would have turned people against Newton since he proceeded to win the title at Auburn and some wondered how much it cost.

The final part of the he cheated to get here comes from Newton’s pro prospects. Newton was a great college quarterback playing a college system. Surely he would bust making the transition to the NFL game. Yet he didn’t as first Rob Chudzinski and then Mike Shula tailored the offense to fit Cam.
