The NBDL roster pool just added one Baron Davis.

Former Charlotte Hornet Baron Davis just won’t give up his NBA career. The 36 year old Davis has been added to the NBDL roster pool in hopes of making one more return to the league according to reports from James Herbert of CBS Sports.

Davis offers an experienced hand at the tiller of an NBDL team, but his age may scare some teams off. The NBDL has the words developmental league in its name, and there is not much to Davis for developing. Still, if he can get a shot and make it work then more power to him.

It would be nice to see Davis on a basketball court again since the last time you might have seen him was as a guest star in the Christmas comedy ‘The Night Before.’ There Davis played part of the posse of the star quarterback of Anthony Mackie’s team. He had plenty of hair and a full beard at least.

Davis was the last star of the Charlotte Hornets before the franchise was moved to New Orleans. Given the level at which he played, he might still be the last star player to don the Charlotte Hornets uniform. He was drafted by the Hornets at the end of the nineties and most of his best years were spent either in New Orleans or Golden State. He was the cover athlete of NBA Street Vol 3 for EA Sports.

If you are looking for Davis to make his comeback locally, say with the Hornets, don’t get your hopes up. Despite the Hornets’ bouts of injuries that have helped them into a losing streak, the Hornets are still three deep at the point guard position where Davis plays. The Hornets issue seems to be defensive, and he aging Davis is not likely to be an answer for that either.

The Hornets play the Hawks tonight.
