Carolina Panthers: Ten make Pro Bowl

The NFL announced the results of Pro Bowl voting and the Carolina Panthers landed ten guys in the draft pool.

Congratulations Carolina Panthers fans, you managed to rock the Pro Bowl voting and put ten guys in the Pro Bowl draft pool. Well done, and now you must pull for them to never play in that game which occurs the week before the Super Bowl.

The ten Panthers are the most from any one team and it shows how energized the Panthers fan base is right now with the team enjoying 14-0 status. The Panthers took ten of eighty-four spots which is about a little better than 13% of the entire Pro Bowl roster. If that seems like a large number from one team, just remember that the Pro Bowl is no longer divided by Conferences anymore.

That means that if the ten Panthers go to the Pro Bowl, they may well have to face each other on opposite teams. This year the two teams will be Team Michael Irvin vs Team Jerry Rice and the actual draft will occur on January 27.

If the Panthers do make the Super Bowl, then the NFL will need ten alternates to fill those spots. That is without considering the players who might miss from the AFC representative be they Patriots, Bengals, or someone else.

Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu was voted in, but he is out for the year and will need to be replaced.

The Panthers sitting in the draft pool are:

QB Cam Newton
RB Jonathan Stewart
TE Greg Olsen
FB Mike Tolbert
C Ryan Kalil
G Trai Turner
DT Kawann Short
LB Thomas Davis
LB Luke Kuechly
CB Josh Norman

Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr is also in the Pro Bowl draft pool which means he could conceivably face Josh Norman or be teammates with Norman during the game. Again, we are hoping that Norman is not in that game at all.

Next: All Time Panther Team

How many of the ten Panthers actually deserve to be there? Well it would be hard not to take Newton, Olsen, Kalil, Short, Davis, Kuechly, and Norman. Tolbert and Turner play positions where fan involvement takes you over the top. The Cowboys had a rough season and three of their linemen still made the pool.

The Carolina Panthers’ big task this week is defeating the Atlanta Falcons and claiming home field.
