The North Carolina Tar Heels will need a couple upsets to guarantee a spot in the College Football Playoff if they beat Clemson

The North Carolina Tar Heels play the Clemson Tigers this weekend. The winner becomes the ACC Champion. However we discussed yesterday that the Tar Heels still might not jump into the top four of the playoff discussion with a win over Clemson. So what to do?

Let chaos reign, baby. There is a sure fire path for North Carolina to make the playoff. It is convoluted and improbable but it does exist based on the outcomes of the games on Saturday. Let’s look at each game and explain what has to happen to put North Carolina in a playoff spot.

Naturally I won’t be covering the Oklahoma Sooners in this article. The Sooners have won the Big 12 and have no one left to play. I am assuming that they are comfortable in their 3 spot and making the playoff regardless.
