The North Carolina Tar Heels have been quiet in the national conversation as has the ACC Coastal Division as a whole. Duke sat put on their bye week in the twenties in the polls. The Pitt Panthers got some love as a number 25 in the polls.

The Tar Heels are currently keeping pace with their fellow conference unbeaten. They need to continue to do that tomorrow against the Virginia Cavaliers.

Virginia is going through a tough year with many predicting that Mike London is on his way out. If he was to reverse that trend, then he would need to start in Chapel Hill. This is a matchup of two different teams heading in two different directions.

Opponent: Virginia Cavaliers (2-4, 1-1 ACC)
Date: October 24
Time: 3:30 PM
TV: ESPN3
Venue: Kenan Memorial Stadium

Traditionally the Oldest Rivalry in the South is a close game. Last year was no exception as the Tar Heels were desperately looking for a spark going into Charlottesville. This year the Tar Heels are hoping for a little more comfortable score. Despite slow starts, the Tar Heel offense has been putting big point totals on the board in its recent four game winning streak.

This week Virginia will try to do what Delaware, Georgia Tech, and Wake Forest tried to do – control the clock to wear down the Tar Heel defense and keep the Tar Heel offense off the field. This time there will be a pro-style flair to the proceedings.

Virginia has been forced to throw in their first games, but they really need to look at the ground game. Taquan Mizzell has half the production of Elijah Hood, but also does not have a lot of carries.

More from North Carolina Tar Heels

For an added piece of intrique, look at former Tar Heel T.J. Thorpe playing for the Cavs. He has 176 yards and a touchdown through the season so far. He returned one kick so far this year.

The Tar Heel defense needs to continue its good play and prove that get opposing offenses off the field and the winning can continue.

Prediction: 30-10 North Carolina
