4. Realities
The Knicks will never do it. They are still committed to building around Anthony, which owner James Dolan is very certain about. Phil Jackson might do it, but he won’t have the freedom. He also might be seen as helping Michael Jordan at the expense of his own franchise, which would be a bad taste. Kevin McHale didn’t last in Minnesota after shipping Kevin Garnett to Boston and his old Celtics. Carmelo also needs the production values of the big city. He has not shown himself to be willing to sacrifice that stuff merely for winning.
It is fun to think about though.
