I have followed a lot of the tweets about the Carolina Panthers training camp from local sports media and retweeted those tweets for my twitter followers to see. If you have been following my retweets you will notice that training camp has had a few let downs so far.

Stephen Hill is out for the season more than likely with a torn ACL after landing awkwardly on his feet trying to make a catch yesterday. Hill had already been on the hot seat for getting busted with Marijuana and now he has been waived/injured following his injury news. He had the worst week possible for a player that was fighting for a roster spot. This may be his last set back in the NFL because many teams will look at him as done after this season. If the Panthers kept him around they must of seen something good in the guy.

In other news from today’s practice Michael Oher has started off camp badly according to some local media and was being beaten constantly. Assistant coach Steve Wilks, who is filling in for Ron Rivera as he attends his brother’s funeral, did stress that Oher looked progressively better throughout the day. The thing is all teams say that about all players during training camp. Oher will have to get better or this season could feature Cam Newton running for his life in the pocket instead of stepping in to the pocket to throw the ball. I think the Panthers’ biggest weakness is LT and if it is not addressed they are in trouble as a team. Hopefully Oher can find the spark he had when he first entered the NFL with the Ravens years ago.

Ted Ginn Jr. is impressing coaches and media with his speed and does not look like he lost a step from his last season with the Panthers. On my twitter account I shared a video of Newton hitting Ginn with a deep pass and clearly he still has rockets for legs. This is a good sign and could help stretch the field and also could help in the return game. Hopefully, Ginn continues to impress.

  • On the defensive side of the field new Panthers’ player Charles “Peanut” Tillman has been knocking the ball out of everyone’s hands. He is known for being a hard hitting cornerback and I think he fits well with the Panthers. I am glad to see the veteran has still got what it takes to compete on a high level. He may end up being a surprise to many Panthers’ fans. Well that is all for now I will continue updating with major stories I see throughout Panthers’ training camp.
