NC State Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren assembled his best class to date as a group of 22 signees were officially introduced last week.  Among the newest Wolfpackers were a trio of 4-star running backs:  Johnny Frasier from Princeton, NC, Reggie Gallaspy from Greensboro, NC and Nyheim Hines from Garner, NC.

  • Frasier was rated the fourth-best running back in the nation, as well as the best in North Carolina.  Frasier made headlines when he flipped his early committment from the Florida State Seminoles to the Wolfpack.  The 5’11” 220lb. back received offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State.
  • Hines was ranked second in North Carolina at the running back position and “The hope is Nyheim Hines can play receiver, running back and be a returner in college,” Doeren said.
  • Gallaspy the 11th ranked North Carolina player had a stellar 2014 season, rushing 3,318 yards and 52 touchdowns in 14 games for Southern Guilford High School.

Official Mistake

On a side note, ACC officials admitted an error in the NC State/Wake Forest game  last week.  The game, won by the Demon Deacons 88-84, had an altercation with 40.5 seconds remaining that the refs got wrong.

According to ACC head of officials John Clougherty, Wake Forest forward Devin Thomas should have been called for a flagrant foul as he drove his left elbow into the chest of N.C. State’s Cody Martin.  The Wolfpack should have gotten four free throws plus possession of the ball.
