On Saturday, NC State meets Wake Forest for their 108th meeting.  The 3:00pm game also marks Wolfpack Senior Day/Military Appreciation Day for 2nd year coach Dave Doeren’s squad.  NC State leads the overall series 63-38-6 and has won 13 of the last 14 meetings against the Demon Deacons at home.  Fortunately tomorrow’s game is at Carter-Finley Stadium.

This game is a MUST win for a Wolfpack team in search of its 6th win that would make it bowl eligible. Heading into the 2014 campaign, one of NC State’s team goals was to advance to a bowl game and then win it. The Wolfpack (5-5, 1-5) has two games remaining…one of which is against UNC in Chapel Hill.  Even the most ardent NC State fan knows we don’t want to be in Chapel Hill needing a win to go bowling.

Wake Forest (2-7), (0-5) has lost five games in a row and is struggling to find consistency on both sides of the football.  Not to be outdone, the Wolfpack has lost five of its last six with the only win during that span coming against the Syracuse Orangemen.

Last week after a gutsy 3 quarters, Wake Forest fell 34-20 at home to No. 19 Clemson.  The Wolfpack is also smarting after a disappointing 56-23 loss at Georgia Tech. Helping the Pack’s fortunes is the fact that Wake is last in the ACC in total offense at 203.0 yards per game.  The Pack needs a good outing offensively and defensively on Saturday.  If they do, they should come away with victory number six.
