FBS Preview: College Football Week 12

facebooktwitterreddit

Week 12 of the College Football Season finds several of our teams in fights for divisional and conference races. Other teams are trying to see if they can wrangle bowl eligibility out of the equation. So it is still a busy time out there. Let’s look at the FBS Preview for Week 12.

Thursday – 11/13

East Carolina Pirates (6-2) at Cincinnati Bearcats (5-3)
Time: 7:00 PM
TV: ESPN2

This is a key matchup in the resolution of the American Athletic Conference season. Both East Carolina and Cincinnati have shots at the title with identical conference records of 3-1. The Bearcats are the home squad, but the Pirates should have gotten a jolt of reality from their loss to Temple last week.

Saturday – 11/15

Duke Blue Devils (8-1) vs Virginia Tech Hokies (4-5)
Time: 12:00 PM
TV: ESPNU

The Duke Blue Devils are in the driver’s seat here in the Coastal Division, and Virginia Tech has had a disappointing performance in the conference schedule. This game will likely be closer than the records would indicate. Duke has not really blown out any of its opposition this year, and Virginia Tech is capable of a strong performance.

  • North Carolina Tar Heels (4-5) vs Pitt Panthers (4-5)
    Time: 12:30 PM
    TV: ACC Network

Both teams are looking for wins to sneak into bowl games. Both teams are not technically out of the Coastal Division race either. The loser will have a hard time doing either. Of course everyone wants to see 250 lbs James Conner face the notoriously porous Tar Heel run defense. Can the Tar Heels win a shootout? Will the team with the ball last win?

Wake Forest Demon Deacons (2-7) at NC State Wolfpack (5-5)
    Time: 3:30 PM
    TV: RSN

This rivalry represents opportunity for both squads. For Wake, this is the best remaining chance to get a conference victory. For State, the road to bowl eligibility is at hand. The Wake Forest defense will once again attempt to clamp down on an opponent, while State’s offense is not easy to clamp down if your name is not Clemson.

Appalachian State Mountaineers (4-5) at Arkansas State Red Wolves (6-3)
    Time: 3:30 PM
    TV: ESPN3

Appalachian State can still fight for a winning season by taking out the powers of the Sun Belt Conference. Arkansas State’s coach is Larry Fedora disciple Blake Anderson and also famous for the dying goat punt play. Over and out on the FBS Preview.
