NBA Preview Game 1: Hornets vs Bucks

So right after I say that Kemba Walker will be on a contract year, the Hornets sign Kemba to a four year 48 million dollar contract extension according to Marc Stein of ESPN. Evidently somebody thought it was a good idea for the guy with the ball to not be gunning for stats and gumming the works. It also answers the biggest question for the next off season. So the Hornets are committing to Kemba Walker as part of the core for the future. I still remember the UConn title run, so I approve.

Coach: Jason Kidd

Kidd made waves over the summer with his attempted coup for leadership of the Nets front office. The result was to land him in Milwaukee where he was good friends with the owner BEFORE they had bothered to Larry Drew that he would no longer be needed.

Bucks Likely Starting Five:

C Larry Sanders
F Khris Middleton
F Jabari Parker
G OJ Mayo
G Brandon Knight

The obvious name here is Jabari Parker, playing his very first NBA game. He will be in the three spot, so expect Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to matchup with him initially. The Bucks have several options at guard, so don’t be surprised to see a smaller lineup sometime during the game that might shift Parker to Marvin Williams on defense. Sanders is a ball swatter, but he will be tested trying to guard the Hornets’ Al Jefferson in the post.

  • Bucks Bench

The Milwaukee bench includes Tar Heel alums Kendall Marshall and John Henson and both will see time. The most exciting member of the Milwaukee bench will be reserve wing Giannis Antetokounmpo, the ‘Greek Freak.’ Antetokounmpo is known for his athleticism and defense and would provide an interesting matchup for Lance Stephenson on the wing.

Hornets Injuries (from ESPN Injury Report):
Gerald Henderson is expected to play.
Lance Stephenson has been considered questionable.
