    A Rivalry Renewed?

Not in the slightest, in fact, this will be the first ever meeting between the Pirates and Huskies.

    Keys for ECU

That home crowd at Dowdy-Ficklen is going to be nuts, and the Pirates haven’t lost there yet this year.

A “blackout” is also being planned for tonight and they are taking this thing seriously, even making the midfield logo monochromatic.

Look how awesome that looks. Kudos to you, ECU.

With ESPN on hand as well, expect the Pirate faithful to show “No Quarter” all night long.

As for the action on the field, we’ve seen ECU slow down a bit in their past two outings against SMU and South Florida. UConn’s defense (despite the team losing four straight), has looked like they can stand up on their own.

With a healthy Shane Carden, Breon Allen and the entire receiving corps ready to go, the Pirate offense should have no issue tonight.

The defense should also have a field day, given that UConn has an offensive line that’s given up 24 sacks so far this season. Huskies quarterback Chandler Whitmer has only passed for 200 yards or more once this season, and the run game just isn’t up to par.

If ECU wants to truly dominate this game, they’ll have to do so on defense by completely shutting down the visitors.

    Prediction

Yes, UConn’s defense is good, but they haven’t been tested by a team that can put up yards and points like the Pirates. They might hang around for the first quarter (maybe even the first half), but the loud atmosphere and ECU’s offense will be too much for the Huskies to overcome. Don’t expect an upset here folks, but I think UConn will cover in the end.

    ECU – 35

    UConn – 10
