Week 9 Amway Coaches Poll Released: ECU #17

facebooktwitterreddit

The last two weeks have seen lots of crazy action that have completely changed the Amway Coaches poll picture that was set up then. The top 5 has seen a fair amount of the turnover as Baylor and Notre Dame fell out and Alabama and Michigan State jumped in. Texas A&M, once everyone’s darlings following their dismantling of South Carolina, has fallen out of the poll completely. South Carolina lost to Kentucky a week ago, so things change.

More from East Carolina Pirates

There was good news and bad news for the only resident of the poll from the Old North State. East Carolina used its bye week to sneak up to number 17. However the Marshall Thundering Herd entered the poll last week and have moved up to number 22 this week. The Pirates do not want a situation at the end of the year where the Alliance Bowls have to choose between them and an unbeaten Marshall team that beat them last year.

The others receiving votes list is shrinking. The most notable thing about it is the appearance of the Duke Blue Devils sitting at the #27 spot. Duke plays Pitt next week and could enter the Coaches Poll again with continued success in the much contested Coastal Division.

The Week 9 Amway Coaches Poll

1. Mississippi State Bulldogs (36)
2. Florida State Seminoles (22)
3. Ole Miss Rebels (4)
4. Alabama Crimson Tide
