Week 8 FCS Football Scoreboard

Let’s look at the 8th week of FCS Football in the Old North State.

The Eagles did most of their damage early and took a 17-7 lead into the half. The second half belonged to the Bears, however. Two second half touchdowns made the difference for Morgan State. Eagles quarterback Malcolm Bell threw for 207 yards and a score in the loss. Kicker Eric Fenton missed three field goals in the loss.

Elon scored first but then never again. Stony Brook running back Stacey Bedell had 25 carries for 118 yards and a score. The Sea Wolves shutdown the Elon offense and just kept them at arms length throughout the game.

A shootout occurred up in Lexington between the Bulldogs and the Keydets. Gardner-Webb scored the first fourteen on their way to a 21-13 lead at the half. The Bulldogs scored twice in the third quarter and then a major comeback by VMI in the fourth tied the game and sent it to overtime. In the second overtime period, the Bulldogs scored on a quick pass from Lucas Beatty to Kenny Cook. VMI could not answer.

Beatty had 430 passing yards and five touchdowns for the Bulldogs.

North Carolina A&T continued to survive life without Kwashaun Quick. This time they got big games from running back Tarik Cohen and kicker Cody Jones. Cohen had 144 rushing yards on the day while Jones kicked four field goals. The Hornets scored all their points in the fourth quarter.

The Catamounts jumped out to a two score lead early at 14-0. They expanded it 21-10 at half under a trick play pass from Terryon Robinson to Karnorris Benson. Troy Mitchell threw three other scores to keep Western ahead and deliver the victory. Spearman Robinson had 108 yards receiving for the Catamounts.

The streaks held up. Davidson remained winless in FCS play and Campbell remained unbeaten in conference. Davidson scored the first seventeen points of the game. Campbell had closed the margin to 17-14 before the half. Davidson owned the third quarter but Campbell owned the fourth with two touchdowns for the final margin.
