Ok.

Blue Hose refers to the socks worn by the football team in the early 20th century.

Now that we got that out of the way, let me reiterate what I said several weeks ago.  Why on earth is NC State playing this team?  No disrespect to Presbyterian College or to their illustrious academic history.  But as far as football goes, what is the upside to playing this Big South Conference football team?

More from North Carolina State Wolfpack

Tomorrow NC State (3-0)  hosts the Presbyterian College Blue Hoses (2-1) in what will be the season’s final tune up before it gets real.  Thus far the Pack has successfully passed its first three tests: Georgia Southern, Old Dominion and South Florida.

Coach Dave Doeren’s young squad has improved each game raising expectations and curiosity of just how this team will fare against ACC competition.  Fresh off  a dominating road performance, the Wolfpack returns to the confines of Carter-Finley Stadium where if they can guard against over confidence, the Pack should be 4-0 for the first time since 2010.

PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE– led by head coach Harold Nichols is coming to Raleigh after a 10-7 upset over rival Furman last week.  In what was deemed the biggest win in Blue Hose history, the team from Clinton, SC will attempt to  repeat the magic by using their strength: Defense.

Led by senior linebacker Isaiah Lynn,  Presbyterian College has an impressive front seven that limited previously #12 ranked Furman to 212 total offensive yards while garnering 4 sacks.  Offensively in 3 games PC has averaged 27.3 points and 235 yard rushing.  The improving Wolfpack defense will have play more like the South Florida version than the Georgia Southern one to secure this game early.  If not, the Pack could be in for another nail biter.

NC STATE–Expect the 3 headed dragon in Tony Creecy, Shadrach Thornton and Matt Dayes to continue their running ways led by QB Jacoby Brissett and his corp of reliable hands.
