Carolina Panthers Offensive Line Set for Season?

Panthers training camp is coming to an end and we know a little bit more now than we did before. We are more comfortable with Kelvin Benjamin, and it seems the Panthers have a new left tackle. That would be Byron Bell, the fourth year man out of New Mexico. Bell showed through two weeks of camp that he was the Panthers’ guy or at least he was more ready to play the blind side than Nate Chandler, who settles in at right tackle. That begins to sort out the Carolina Panthers offensive line.

The Panthers also have a new right guard, LSU rookie Trai Turner, who received compliments from Panthers center Ryan Kalil and Panthers coach Ron Rivera. Turner had also gained the respect of the defensive line, since he often had to face all of them. There were times when the Panthers were short of guards, and that forced Turner into more work.

Panthers fans will be happier to note the return of All-Pro caliber Ryan Kalil at center and Amini Silatolu at left guard. Silatolu missed much of last season, but he should be healthy again and ready to show why the Panthers made him a second rounder in the 2012 draft.

More from Carolina Panthers

The final piece is the aforementioned Nate Chandler who moves into the right tackle spot. Chandler is best known for being a defensive tackle not all that long ago before being moved to the offensive line.
Just because the Panthers offensive line appears to be set does not mean that it is solid. It will be hard to recover from the retirements of Jordan Gross and Travelle Wharton overnight. Depth is also a concern behind all these guys. Any injury could be devastating.

The Carolina Panthers offensive line, in recap:

LT- Byron Bell
LG- Amini Silatolu
C- Ryan Kalil
RG- Trai Turner
RT- Nate Chandler
