Chris Paul will have one order of business before leaving for Spain and the FIBA World Championship. That business will be running the CP3 Elite Guard Camp in Winston-Salem during the days of August 7-10, 2014. Paul invites twenty college point guards and thirty high school guards.

Since its inception, Paul’s camp has been well attended. Former Davidson and current Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has been through its rigors. So has Charlotte Hornets starting point guard Kemba Walker.

This year the Charlotte 49ers Information desk is pleased to report that point guard senior Pierria Henry will be attending the camp. Henry will be leaned upon this year if the 49ers wish to take that next step forward. Any work against elite competition can only help hone his skills and perhaps improve his future prospects.

Henry showed good balance in his game last year as the averaged double figure points (12 pts/game) and more than 5 assists and 5 rebounds a game. According to 49ers Information, he was one of only five players in the country to achieve that. He was the only Conference USA player to do that. Henry is also known as a good defender, making the Conference USA All-Defensive Team along with All-Conference Third team honors.

Charlotte basketball now resides in Conference USA again, and this league is another league that is there for the taking by almost any of the League members. Sometimes an elite point guard is the only difference between mediocrity and success in such a situation. If Henry can be that guard, then the 49ers will be well served by the CP3 Elite Guard Camp.
