No, one season of Charlotte 49er football was evidently not enough. The second season is not that far away, but if you live in the Charlotte area there is good news. All Charlotte 49ers home games will be broadcast on local television. WCCB Charlotte show the home games. WFNZ radio will also be covering 49er home games this year. The schedule looks like this from Charlotte Sports Information:

Charlotte 49ers Home Football Television Schedule (All Games at 12 Noon):

Sept. 6 Johnson C. Smith
Sept. 27 Charleston Southern
Oct. 15 James Madison
Nov. 8 Coastal Carolina
Nov. 15 Wesley College
Nov. 22 Morehead State

The second season of Charlotte 49ers football continues their climb toward joining Conference USA in FBS in the near future. Charlotte’s home schedule includes a number of recognizable teams this year.

More from North Carolina Sports

Johnson C. Smith is the local HBCU in Charlotte, and so that game should have a fair amount of local interest. The Charlotte 49ers may never end up playing Johnson C. Smith again, so the bragging rights on this one will be intense.

James Madison is a regular participant in the FCS playoffs and famously defeated Virginia Tech a few years ago.

Coastal Carolina may not be same the same now that Tyler Thigpen and Mike Tolbert aren’t there, but the Conway, SC school is always a tough customer in the FCS. Too bad they no longer have the coach who encourages his players to be ‘dogs.’

The last home game will be against Kentucky school Morehead State. Morehead State is most famous for being the alma mater of New York Giants quarterback and CBS sports analyst Phil Simms.
