Duke Football Recruiting: Blue Devils land Kameron Schroeder

Things between the Duke Blue Devils and offensive tackle recruit Kameron Schroeder moved extremely quickly within the past week, and that culminated in Schroeder’s commitment to Duke and coaches David Cutcliffe and Jeffrey Faris yesterday. Although not yet rated by recruiting services, Schroeder is regarded as a sleeper recruit and is a very good early addition for the Duke Blue Devils 2014 recruiting class.

Schroeder also received offers from Hawaii, Nevada, Harvard, and Idaho. Several top Pac-12 programs showed interest in the UCLA Bruins, Stanford Cardinal, California Golden Bears, Washington State Cougars, and UNLV was also interested.

Looking at the offers from Harvard and Duke and the interest from UCLA, Cal, and Stanford, it is evident that Kameron Schroeder is a man of high intelligence. He definitely fits Duke in that mold, and he brings more than just intelligence to the Blue Devils. Schroeder has excellent size at 6’5″, 265 pounds, and 247Sports has him at a 5.03 forty time.

The Consumines Oaks standout in Elk Grove, California is a good coast-to-coast pick-up for Duke, and nobody recruited him harder than Faris and the Blue Devils. Schroeder visited Duke on an unofficial visit last week, then he received his first “Big Six” offer from them a couple of days later. On Wednesday, the tackle named Duke his leaders and committed to the school a mere two days later.
