ACC Tournament 2013: Round One Recap

The 2013 ACC Tournament has had a successful first day of basketball! Some shocking results and some great basketball has treated basketball fans to a great day of action.

No. 8 Boston College 84, No. 9 Georgia Tech 64: Georgia Tech was highly favored to advance in the ACC Tournament, but Boston College squashed those plans. Olivier Hanlan scored a rookie record of forty-one points yesterday for the Eagles to assist them over Georgia Tech. Marcus Georges-Hunt lead Georgia Tech with twenty-one points and eleven rebounds.

No. 5 North Carolina State 80, No. 12 Virginia Tech 63: Virginia Tech gave the Wolfpack a run for their money…in the first half. But the second half was all North Carolina State. They rolled over the Hokies to move on to round two tomorrow. Richard Howell had a big game with a double-double. He scored twenty-two points and had twelve rebounds.

No. 7 Maryland 75, No. 10 Wake Forest 62: Arguably the best game of the first round was between the Terrapins and the Demon Deacons. It was close until the end! Dez Wells keeps Maryland’s hopes alive in their final ACC Tournament with a twenty-one point game. Wake Forest’s CJ Harris had nineteen points, five rebounds, and two assists.

No. 6 Florida State 73, No. 11 Clemson 69: Clemson came out stronger early on and was on a mission to upset the Seminoles. However, Okaro White had different plans. White scored twenty-four points and had four rebounds. Clemson was lead by KJ McDaniels with sixteen points and seven rebounds.
