UNC Football Recruiting: Braxton Berrios visiting Duke

2014 three-star Raleigh WR/ATH Braxton Berrios has offers from the North Carolina Tar Heels, Duke Blue Devils, and North Carolina State Wolfpack, so you can see that Berrios is in the midst of a highly-contested recruiting battle in the Triangle. The Leesville Road standout is on an unofficial visit to Duke after taking unofficial trips to N.C. State and UNC last month.

Berrios, one of the top 35 rated athletes in the class, is a high-end three-star prospect and is currently looking closely at UNC, N.C. State, the West Virginia Mountaineers, the Virginia Tech Hokies, and the South Carolina Gamecocks. Although the Clemson Tigers have not offered him yet, Berrios is also interested in the ACC school south of the border.

East Carolina, Wake Forest, Maryland, Minnesota, and Kentucky are five notable schools to have offered Berrios. Although he is not as high on Duke as he is on other teams, a good visit to Durham could change things.

The 5’8″, 170 pound wide receiver had an excellent junior year with 33 total touchdowns, 1,142 rushing yards, and 766 receiving yards. Berrios has terrific versatility, and it’s no wonder how he is so heavily recruited in the state of North Carolina given the statistics he put up last year.

Not quite one of the top ten recruits in the state, Berrios is, however, firmly cemented in the 247Composite as one of the top 400 recruits in the nation in 2014.
