After the ACC fans finally settled down and remained calmed down once the rumors of multiple teams leaving the conference were dismissed, it was all quite on the western front. Today that front is noisy and full of panic yet again.

The Big Ten (B1G) conference has extended an invitation to the University of North Carolina to join their conference and leave the Atlantic Coast Conference.

All current and future members of the ACC signed a letter a few months ago that they are committed to remaining in the ACC, and many of their athletic directors have released statements reassuring that commitment.

It appears while the Big Ten is eager to land the biggest schools of the ACC, that it is nothing but rumors.

Virginia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and Duke are all rumored to be receiving offers to leave the ACC. However every sports fan knows that North Carolina and Duke define ACC basketball and should not be worried that either of the two will be going anywhere anytime soon.

After Notre Dame’s decision to join as a partial member, the ACC stuck a $50 million exit fee on the tab of one University of Maryland. That fee doesn’t appear to be leaving anytime soon either.
