The Duke Blue Devils landed their 19th commitment of the 2013 class, and it was a solid one as they were able to nab three-star cornerback Deondre Singleton over the Penn State Nittany Lions. This is a significant recruiting coup for David Cutcliffe and the Blue Devils program, as Singleton is one of the team’s best eight committed prospects in this class.

The Georgia recruit also received offers from Air Force, Appalachian State, and Miami of Ohio. The Wisconsin Badgers also showed some solid interest in Singleton, but the only major offers he had were from Penn State and Duke. The decision was between those two programs, as Wisconsin never did give Singleton an offer.

Overall, the 6’0″, 175 pound Archer High cornerback is one of the top 100 CBs in the nation, and he is arguably one of the top 100 recruits in the talent-rich state of Georgia. Cutcliffe did a nice job here going a little south to pick up a second 2013 commit out of Georgia, and Duke took full advantage of the momentum gained after this weekend’s official visit for Singleton.

Deondre Singleton officially visited the Nittany Lions early in December, and he is an unheralded recruit but definitely has upside given the interest from PSU. I mean, Bill O’Brien is an NFL quality head coach so if he sees something in Singleton then there’s definitely potential to be had.
