N.C. State Wolfpack Football Recruiting: Marquez Valdes officially visiting

A plethora of recruits are on official visits to the North Carolina State Wolfpack campus in Raleigh this weekend, and the most notable of them is probably three-star Lakewood High wide receiver Marquez Valdes. The official trip to N.C. State is the second-to-last one in Valdes’s recruitment, as his final visit will be next week to the Kentucky Wildcats.

The St. Petersburg area recruit has taken official trips to Houston and Toledo, and Louisville and West Virginia are also heavily involved in his recruitment. It will be interesting to see if Valdes is able to get a WVU offer, because that would be huge in his recruitment. The WR does not have an offer from the Houston Cougars either, but they are in the mix since they received an official visit from them.

N.C. State has a great chance of landing the 6’3″, 190 pound 2013 prospect with a good official visit here, and he would be a solid addition to their recruiting class. New head coach Dave Doeren has done an excellent job of recruiting lately, and Valdez would actually be a “top ten” addition to their current 2013 recruiting class of 17 commitments.

A big in-state school in Florida State showed interest in Valdes at one point, but he is best off going to a smaller school. Louisville and West Virginia, however, aren’t exactly small schools, and N.C. State also presents a major offer for Valdes. Kentucky is headed in a better direction with a new head coach, and they have a great shot at landing the talented, explosive wide receiver.

Valdes is one of the top 200 wide receivers in the 2013 class and a top 200 recruit in the state of Florida. Louisville is also in a good position to land Valdes, and this is one recruiting battle for N.C. State fans to watch for closely.

Cincinnati, USF, and Iowa State also offered the three-star prospect.
